Alright . . . .here is my dilemma, I had an interview with cingular COR . . Got that job, just have to do the rest of the paper work to finish the process. But the very next day, i got an interview wit Tmo. The interview seemed to went well and also considering the fact that i a good referral. So it looks like I might get that job also. So of course, my question is what is a better company to work for?

Posted by: brealmp3

what position is it for? what are the pay differences? there are so many more details that you need to gives us to help you decide but here we only have cingular in the area so i'm not familiar with tmo at all.

Posted by: KKbundy420

Im sorry, i was hoping you would tell me why I should work for cingular. What is the average commision payout if you are good? if you are bad? are the managers always breathing down your neck? I guess I want you to sell me why I should work for cingular.

Is it TMO corp or a TMO dealer???

Posted by: KKbundy420

it is a TMO cor store that usually does over 200 new/month

welll i was Blue then Orange and nwo im pink and i have to say PINK is the way..... not that being said im nto sayin you CANT make money at Cingular but well heres what i recall from teh last comp plan i saw Orange vs pink... and orange guys correct me where im worng

sell an accesory Orange 5% Pink !0%
sell a phone Orange 0 Pink 10% of phone price sold at

ativate a plans up to 59.99 orange pays out anyothe over 59.99 is paid the same (example i activate customer on 59.99 plan i get $10, activate different customer on 99.99 plan i still get $10)
Pink get tiers all the way up to 99.99

orange i hit quota i get to keep my job
pink i everythign over my quota i get an accelerator!!!!!!

ornage unlimited phone usage and free equpiment
pink i pay $10 and have to buy a phone at 40%

winner?

you decide

Posted by: edmund

^with cingular you have to hit at least 80% of quota to keep your job, but if you get over quota, there are different pay tiers that will pay you more on each opportunity including the ones you've already sold.

What is yor average commision check looking like at T-Mo. (after taxes). On average how many deac's to you have to deal with?

Posted by: ChocoDough

Definately take the Tmobile job. They treat their employees A LOT better than Cingular does.

Also I have a few friends that work at Tmobile, and their commissions are much higher than mine, and to top everything off Tmobile's coverage in my area stinks! Go figure.

the average (take home) commission check w/ Cingular is somewhere in the $600 to $750 range. of course there are some who make more and definitely some that make less.

but you get the general idea.

Posted by: KKbundy420

It seems like T-Mo is the way to go. Does anyone have a rebuttal???

I'd kill myself if my commission check was that low.

I know I would not work for Cingular if I made $600 in commission. My last check was over 3k before taxes. The lowest full time at my store is around 2k

You make almost $40,000 a year in commision?

Are you working non-stop or something?

Posted by: gazilionar

with the new accelerator commission schedule, it is much easier to make a lot of money. I only work 40 hours a week. Even the part timers are banking with the new plan

I work as a Cingular dealer, (note not corperate), and thank god I love my boss and it's a good small town, otherwise my a$$ would be outta there so fast. Cingular customer service is horrid, and because the online software we use has a nasty habbit of a) not giving us enough utility, or b) just erroring whenever, we have to call CS. Problem is, they took away our dealer support line and now we have to go through regular CS just like everyone else, which means long hold times and incompetent people. Apply to T-Mobile and enjoy your day.

this isnt a indirect store tho, it is a cor store. So system problems might not be an issue. But can everyone agree that the average commision check is usually more than $2k before the government takes their share???

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

with cingular? 2k? these days? unless you blow quota by 200%, no.

january i made 4700 prior to taxes. i had 90 somethin acts. 40 or so upgrades. this way before the new commission structure. im pretty sure with the new structure, i'd have made about 2,800...thats almost 2,000 less because of they way its structred these days and lower payout.

KK,

It is going to depend on the store and market you are in. It is also going to depend on you. If you are a good sales person I would think $1k to 1500.00 is reasonable but if you are great you will probably max out at $2k to $3k. It's pretty equal in terms of pay with both TMO and Cingular. I do have to agree that TMO's customercare is much better than Cingulars but you decide. The largest carrier in the US, or the smallest major carrier in the US.

Last month was BAD slow, I only did 50 something contracts, and I still grossed 1500.00, so it really does boil down to you. I can't get many phones out, but the ones I did had features attached and were upper tier rate plans. Just gotta bust your butt.
