already unlocked? does anyone know where it's buyable?

Posted by: sketch143

Yes it's already unlocked.. been a week now i think

People using the 770SH in the UK are able to get the phone unlocked for a small amount by Vodafone themselves, so Sharp Euro firmware phones are never going to be a problem to get unlocked.

i want one... but is there anyone in 604 that sells it >_>

Posted by: shungo

i think they sell them in richmond in some chinese stores, not sure tho.
I rather get a 705SH than a 770SH

Posted by: in2sky

I haven't found a place to unlock here in geneva... any swiss guys here?

Posted by: lucidzero

Al, why would people in the UK need to get that phone unlocked ?

so that the dudes and dudettes that use a provider other than Vodafone can use it.

How much difference internally is the 770sh from the 705sh?
Maybe I should direct this toward AL?

Posted by: AL9999

Ya, people in the UK may want to use the 770SH with other providers, hence wanting to unlock it.

Frost, I wouldn't know about circuit board differences and other internal stuff, but if you want to do a comparison take a look at the internal pictures of the 705SH and 770SH, available on the FCC site. I don't know if that will help, it might.

Good to hear that 770SH can be unlocked. I was in vodafone store 2 days ago and played a bit with this phone. Looks much better in real than on pictures. Nice phone. First really slim Sharp phone and it`s cheap (as for Sharp), ~150f in vodafone store.

wow. .thats cheap man. its unlockable which makes it great.. now for the 705sh...

the 705sh is different hardware tho.. a bit different process of unlocking.. but it'll be done if there is demand for it

Posted by: AL9999

Yeah that is cheap. I guess Sharp accomplished their goal of cost cutting here, it's got to be much much cheaper than what the 705SH would be worth if it got sold in Europe.

Posted by: Timsta

yup. i wonder if the production location makes a idfferent too.

Posted by: AL9999

I'm sure it would, I'll bet all the 770SHs are made in China.

Yep. All 770SHs made in China.

I am still confused by this "unlocked" thing, I don't know why Euro phones would be locked, if you buy the 770 in the UK even though it's Voda.. branded why can you not just pop in another carriers SIM and use it ? Vodafone NZ told me they do not lock their phones,.
