I know we can load mp3 on the phone and play them, but how can we put our OWN mp3s on the phone for ringtones, or are we stuck with the t-mobile downloads?

Danger's OS is locked down like Ft. Knox. Can't add your own ringtones, backgrounds, programs, anything.

yea just like when hiptones first came out on the sk2....i still got my ringtones from back then....and it happened to transfer over to the sk3 and im real happy cause thats the ones i really wanted...custom **** that i couldnt buy!

Paint it, put glitter on it or hang a little dangle thing from it.

As far as the T-Mo/Danger locked OS, that's the only "personal customization" you your gonna be doing to it. That or BUYING ringers. lmao

No one is looking into hacking the SK3, no one has done it for the past two either. Its a no go, only for a developer are you able to "customize" ringtones and apps. But once you do that your warranty is gone as well. Once you modify the SK in any way, pray nothing happens to it. Besides the OS on Dangers servers know when its being tampered with...

but your right, the 2nd one went onto being uncracked and i doubt the 3rd one will

All this talk about "there has to be a way" are newcomes to the sidekick os ^_^ they just dont know yet...

^ very true....nothing is locked down. Even the all might verizon phone service was eventually able to get ringtones for free.

Technically the Hiptop2 and Hiptop3 let you use your own ringtones, but Tmobile decided for whatever reason that they wanted that feature removed

makes me sad because they don't do that to any of their other phones.

I dont think there is a way. I asked a hundred people about cracking the sk2 and they were like "can't do it". so heads keeping there fingers crossed for the sk3 to be unlocked is all good.....
Just that I wont.

History has shown that if enough people say it cant be done, or that its impossible. Hackers end up proving them wrong. Sidekick 3 just needs gain enough popularity to make it worthwhile, which i think with this third one it has. Time will tell, but I do have a feeling itll happen.

Hey everyone complaining about the ringtones on here. Yer wasting your time posting complaints on Howard forums. GO to My.t-mobile.com click "contact us" go through the process of emailing them about the plans and services. let them know what you think! Also call CC, be courtious and explain to them as a customer you are upset that they are charging for these MP3 ringtones as much as $2.99 and they are lousy 10second loops. And as a customer you would like the ability to use whatever MP3 as your ringtone. ( I got a call back within 5hours from a customer relations manager, and he said he has heard these complaints and working on it)

Also post a complaint on hiptop forums, that site is run and monitored by Danger and they are working on things... just be patient!
