I know it's not dead because the key pad will light. (It wont go off...)

try to start it up in bootloader mode.

my v3i is doing that sometimes the screen comes on but then it goes off its been doing it for ages

again, try going into bootloader mode, see if RSD lite recognizes it, then flash
