My first week

Well, I have started my new job at Cingular and so far I do like it..
Except when of coarse I am sitting there at the computer training all day.
My codes are coming along fine and I should be getting my new phone soon.
Which kinda sucks cause they decided to get me a the Nokia 6101 I mean it doesnt even have bluetooth.
Which is actually ironic since they just gave me a free bluetooth headset...
Also, this is the first job that I was not asked to claim 1 or 2 or anything on my taxes.. is that normal?
And does anyone know just how long you have to wait before you get your first paycheck?
Any information would help thanks..

Im in the same boat as you were man. Im ending my second week though. As for me i have not been doing much of the computer training. Ive been pretty much getting a crash course on the floor and i couldnt be happier. I actually feel comfortable enough that i dont have to ask too many questions any more. My manager was nice of nice to give me a razr. Im also using a BB 8700c that i recieved at a BB training class. I have mostly all my codes now. As for the pay check situation, it really depends on when u arrive. I started on a pay week. So my first paycheck will come during my third week. Im really liking the job alot now. Things are really chill in my store yet the other sales people are way above there quotas. Im looking forward to going on my own numbers soon.

This is my second month back and while I think we should get paid more on accessories, it's always been like this (at least for at&t anyway).

off topic
Does anyone know how ramp up pay works (as in the amounts)?

I've been in classes this week last week I was in the store and did a bunch of online classes. The whole phone thing confuses me because I was told we had to carry a PTT a data device and our COU. I think pay is the most confusing thing because no one in my training class knows how much we make in comission.

I have not even started the classes yet.. and youre right the pay is really confusing.
And about the phone that is given to us...
Well, I know mine sucks which forces me to get a better one.
I mean really are we expected to sell a phone thats higher end if we ourselves dont have one...
I think not.. Plus part of selling is knowing and if you are limited to certain features only.. It makes it that much harder to sell..

I have new hire training set for later this month but as for the blackberry training class i took, it was pretty awesome and informative. Your totally right about the phone. I had my blackberry on me yesterday and i think it was able to help close two of my sales yesterday. Both of the customers walked out with the bb unlimted plan.

I go to bb training on the 14th.

They aren't giving free black berry's away are they

I just finished my second week. I spend a little less than half of my day in the back on the computer, then I come out to the floor for the rest of the day. I finished early this week, so I was out on the floor all day Saturday. Unfortunately, since our bill pay machine was down, I became the designated payment taker . Anyway, I think the pay is pretty straight forward, assuming it's not different for other store types. I got a d407 for my COU, but right now I'm using the d807 demo phone, after that I get either a Treo or an 8125, then I'll probably get a Blackberry. We just pass around the cool phones, so I'll rarely have to use my COU and I'll probably buy a 3G PPC when one comes out.

Good luck to everyone else, I'll be in training for two weeks in Indy after next week, and I'm kinda looking forward to it.

^^ I got a brand new 8700 when I went to a blacberry training class also. It was a class mostly about BIS 2.0 taught by a emlpoyee of RIM. One of the main data guys in our market was there and gave all of us there a brand new 8700. When I got back to my store, I ordered a data only COU and I have been using it for almost a month now.

bah shouldve waited to quit. walked away with a BB

Ive been using my blackberry on my cou as the paper that i signed said it was a requirement. The blackberry has to be the best pda phone ive ever used. It is truely the closet to perfect as i think a pda phone can be

Iam enjoying my 8700 as well. When I started back in January, I got a samsung d357 for my COU as we had to have a PTT line. Since that phone is a pos...and I am supposed to have a camera phone, I am getting a new samsung d407 this week to replace it. Now I also have my 8700 with a new data only cou and my cingular email pushed to this device as well as my gmail account. I hope the d407 is a better phone than the d357 has been.

So far I hate my d407, it always calls people and takes pictures while it's in my pocket, all this despite the fact that it has a keypad lock!

^hey, if the bluetooth, earpiece volume, and mic volume all work better...I'll be happier with that than my d357...that pos wont even run mapquest mobile!!! Cingular.com claims the d407 can run mobiTV.

Okay,
Today was crazy at work... I got yelled and screamed at by two people.
Well, actually my manager got yelled and screamed at.. all in all it was actually semi funny. A customer whom could barely speak english got a little peaved when told that we could not return a item with no receipt.
I hope that this does not happen to any of you.

Heh...that happens fairly often. One of the reps in my store even had to call the police because a guy (drunk redneck) wanted to fight him because we had supposedly disrespected his wife the day before. And by disrespect they apparently meant, not give her exactly what they wanted. That guy is now banned from our store. He actually broke his wife's lg c2000 in half and threw it down on our counter before leaving. We still have it and that was probably 3 or 4 weeks ago.

HAHA we had the cops called to our store yesterday to escort some guy out. His son broke the screen on his 2 week old phone and we wouldnt return in. I love situations like that they make the job interesting.
