Some 8125 questions..

Just got a new 8125, I'm loving it so far but I have a few questions.
I can't the deal with using GPRS and Wi-Fi. Like with Opera, how do you specify whether or not to use Wi-Fi or just GPRS? Actually, I can't even get my Opera to use GPRS now, it only works with Wi-Fi. So confusing.

The other issue - how do you set up the phone so its silent (vibrate)? I went to the comm manager and clicked the icon to change from ring to vibrate. Didn't do anything, when someone calls, theres still the ring. I tried changing the ring type to none, I think that might have worked.. but I'm guessing that doesn't mute all the sounds on the phone.

*edit - two more things*

If I'm typing something on the keyboard, what's the easiest way to type numbers? Holding down the red dot key while pressing top keys is annoying..

Am I fine with MediaNet Unlimited? I read somewhere that you can get charged if you don't change to the PDA data plan.. (I also read that you can't use your phone as a modem for your computer unless you have the PDA plan..?)

well i use isp to connect instead of wap..using isp i dont use proxy..so whenever i turn on wifi it uses wifi to connect..once i turn it off it goes back to edge/gprs

all the settings are under sounds and notifications...but you should be able to turn on vibrate using the slider next to the comm buton

Okay I went to connection settings and found a setting where it says 'When a program tries to access the internet, use...' and my options were My Isp, MediaNet, and Wifi. I assumed MediaNet is what to use for GPRS, so I did that. But now, even when I turn on Wifi and connect to my router, it still uses GPRS. I have to change that setting whenever I switch to wifi?

goto connection setting and use my isp and set it up with this

access point name: isp.cingular
username: ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (all caps)
password: CINGULAR1 (all caps)
domain leave blank

this is what i use all the time to connect to the internet..when u get a wifi signal turn on wifi and it will use wifi...once u turn off wifi it will use gprs/edge ..all u have to do is turn off wifi thats it

Isn't that the thing where it won't use medianet, so you get charged if you dont have a pda data plan?

For the vibrate, from the today screen click on the 'speaker' in the top right (to the left of the time) and the little drop down will appear, click on vibrate.

for #'s, press the red dot twice and it will do a 'red dot lock' (like a caps lock). then do all the numbers, then press the red dot twice again to get out of that mode.

this part *might* have been a regedit I did, but i don't think it was. There is a regedit that shows you when you're in caps lock or on the 'red dot' lock but i don't remember where I found it.

the easiest and best way to turn your phone on vibrate is press and hold the comm manager button on the left of the phone, then the phone will vibrate, to turn on ringer press and hold button again.

But for some reason, using either of those methods, the phone keeps going back to ring after a while. I can't figure out whether it changes back from being on standby, or powering off, or syncing.
