No the original picture is not, its HORIZONTAL so the only way to make the pic fill the screen is turn it sidways 90 degrees, then it looks like its on its side, OR stretch the picture vertical so its squashed and distored looking.

What he did was one way to add to the pic to make it fit the screen and look decent.

Remember a lot of source pics are horizontal so trying to make them fit a vertical screen takes some work and effort, understand?
