EDGE Speeds on PDA/PPC/SmrtPh?

This has probably been a tried and tired topic, but I just wanted to know if EDGE has been reliable for all you who have used it. And if so, how fast have you seen it peak at?

My curiosity lies when yesterday, I was able to listen to a 128kbps audio stream with no hiccups, stops, or gaps on my 8125 and at some points it did the auto activesync with no interruption.

And I thought all this time EDGE was just a slight improvement over GPRS.

uhhh... no. Edge is a huge improvement over GPRS. It's like comparing slower then dial up to broadband.

When did ISDN fall under the "broadband" umbrella?

I agree. I am getting over or around 200kps down on average. GPRS is a joke.

EDGE is 4x faster than GPRS.
Typical actual real world average speeds I saw on class 10 GPRS were about 38kbps. Typical average speeds I see on class 10 EDGE are 90kbps-135kbps.
Now I do see bursts of 180kbps with occasional stalls bringing the average down.

The thing that sucks about EDGE is the 1.2 second each way (2.4 second round trip) latency. So it takes 2.4 seconds to start downloading a web page after you send the request. It gives the feeling of being slower than it is. But when streaming the latency isn't an issue, just the congestion. When I'm in airports for example, so many people seem to be using data (I assume) that I get pretty crappy speeds. But go out to the boonies and you have all of the air time to yourself you get great speeds.
UMTS/HSDPA by the way doesn't have hardly any latency I understand.

edge works pretty good for me avg 160-180kbps not as good as my lg where its avg is 300kbps and there is harldly any latencey
