In the last week or so, my battery has gone from say, charging monday night -> on all day and waking up on tuesday with only 2 bars left (left on overnight) , to fully charged -> dying within ~ 3 hours

Its been hapening since http://www.motomodders.net/Default....d=189582#189897

I think.

got the phone in october, had no battery issues before. over this last week its lasted from morning to late at night and each day it gets shorter and shorter.

I dont think batteries are covered by warranty?

Any ideas?

What happened with the phone and the keys sticking or whatever was happening--did you get that solved?

If not, maybe something is still activated in the phone, like the speakerphone. Could it be playing music or something in that area. Isn't there a hard boot or something you could do.

I have seen electronics do some very strange things when the supply power for the chips is lower than it should be.

they keypad thing fixed itself later that night.

no speaker running, hava isnt running. i tried turning off bluetooth (its always been on, but i'll try with it off), no music has been playing, no calls have been made, only sms.

might back it up and reset it if the bluetooth thing doesnt work.

i did everything except back it up.. lost all my numbers in the reset and the thing still isnt good!

I'd take it back and get a replacement if it's still under the warranty terms

I have the same problem. Took my phone back to Verizon, they gave me a "new" one (they called it refurbished). The new phone does the same thing, the battery last half a day. I am wondering if the RAZR is really a POS. I come very close everyday to threw it against the wall and watch the damn thing turns into smithering.

I was wondering if you could tell if it was the battery or the phone if you left the battery out for a while (or maybe turn the phone off) and then see if it lost it's charge. If it does loose it's charge when not in the phone, the battery is bad, if it doesn't then something in the phone must be draining it.

If it helps any, mine will stay on standby for about 3 days before the battery needs charging, but I don't do any special stuff, and not much talking. There seems to be other folks with your same problem, so maybe there is a hardware glitch where something is actually on, like the backlight, but you can't tell. I would think if the phone doesn't live up to the promised battery life, that someone would have to replace it.

This should not be a problem, but I suppose I should ask, do you have a transflash card installed, and if so have you tried taking it out?

Otherwise, I copied this from the Motorola site:

The battery draining faster than usual could be caused by several things:

*You may be in a weak coverage area which causes the phone to use more power.

*Your battery is new and may not have gone through the charging cycles.

*Your battery is old and you need to replace it.

*If your battery has not been completely discharged, let it discharge fully, until the phone turns itself off, then charge it overnight.

*Turn on the battery save feature and select a slow search frequency.

*You may be using your phone in extreme temperatures which causes the battery life to be reduced at extreme hot or cold temperatures.

Please also note that if an accessory is plugged into the accessory port of your phone, but are not in use, they will continue to draw on the battery.

It is none of the above.

the battery needs charging in half a day, even without ever talking on it once!!

This is my second phone. Took the original back and Verizon gave me a new one. Same problem. Except the one is even worse. My original one hold charges for a full day in the beginning. The new one only hold charges from the get go.

I don't do/use any fancy thing with my phone. I dial/answer it, and that's all. I have not even syn the new phone with my bluetooth headset. I have not used my headset for months now.

I am so frustrated and disappointed.

Well, maybe we know why they have all those refurbished phones--your replacement was probably returned for the same reason, unless they told you why it has been returned! They didn't use the same battery in it, did they?

Identical battery. Where can I file a complaint about Verizon? Apparently their version of the Razr is problematic. I talked with another two persons yesterday who use Congular Razr, and they both said their battery last for days.

I have a Moto RAZR V3 and the battery life on standby lasts for days (3-5). Although if i turn on the bluetooth power, the battery gets eaten alive.

So they put your battery into the replacement? OEM Moto RAZR batteries are cheap on ebay. I would have picked one up. You probably spent the equivalent in gas driving to Verizon.
