I'm headed to New York this friday and I'm planning to get the SideKick 3 but thing is, I'm coming back here to use it so I was wondering if anyone ever tried unlocking it or know how to or is it even possible. Hopefully it is, I mean I know the only thing will work is the voice and text which is all good.

I'm getting it from a friend of mine... he has four of them plus I'm staying for awhile so I can proly talk to one of the T-Mobile resp.

a few things are working against you...

1) SK3 is still only available to current tmobile customers.
2) you have telus, which is CDMA. the SK3 is a GSM phone.
3) the sidekick isn't "unlockable" like other phones because of network settings built into the OS. you'll be able to use it as a phone on another GSM network, but that's about it.

I'm very aware of that, like I said I had the previous SideKicks so I know but since SK3 is out, I just wanted to see.

No tmobile is not unlocking the sidekicks any more.

Oh, beacause I wasn't really thinking of unlocking there, more likely in Canada that's why I was asking.

Tmo is the only one that can unlock the tmo sk. None of these stores or online places can. And tmo is not unlocking any more
