Seem Editing V3M for MPT Media Transfer

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

All I want is to enable my V3M to work with MPT for media transfer (ringtones, pictures and movies). I've edited the 006a seem bit 0 to enable it, but it doesn't appear as an option when MPT is connected. I can edit phone book entries, calander and everything, but no media app (whatever that thing is called).

This is my first seem edit experience, so I may be doing something completely wrong, but I've gone back and checked the bit and it did seem to be enabled. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Can anyone think of anything?

PS I'm running MPT 4.2.1

You've only done half the work if all you did was 2742 seem, offset 6A, bit0...

As you can see, Verizon disables compatibility with MPT's MultiMedia Studio feature (part that does ring tones/pictures/videos) on the phones themselves..

Because of this, they also remove the "M" from the phone ID string... so when MPT auto-detects your phone, it will only give you the options of a "STOCK" phone, i.e. NO MultiMedia Studio icon...

There are two things needed to fix this... (you must do both!!)
1. Re-enable the feature on the phone.. Seem Edit is the only way!!
2. Get MPT to see your phone as the "M" model of your phone so that you get MPT's MultiMedia Studio icon/features... (There are 3 different ways to accomplish this task, you must "pick 1"... each are described on the MPT link at http://mark.cdmaforums.com )

Thanks for that. I knew it was something simple - I couldn't remember how to change the modem from V3C to V3CM (or maybe the process is changed in the newer version of MPT?) but then I launched an older version and made the change to V3CM, which carried over to the new version. Now it works perfectly.

Thanks for all the seem editing info on your page. It's a bit much for the non-technical to muddle through, but I got it eventually and it was very helpful.
