I went to the local alltel store today, with a verizon v710 that i flashed over to alltel firmware, hoping to flex the phone with the alltel software.
they now use motorola rsd, after the upgrade was complete, i ended up with a new flash. no flex.
my phone still had the verizon wireless banner, GIN icons and the whole bit. no web sessions or MMS settings. so...
is it safe to say that the alltel stores do not have a flex stored on their flashing computer? i actually did a search through windows on that particular computer, i found .shx and .smg files, but no .hs files that PST has to have in order to flex.
Can it also be concluded that there is no way to "flex" a CDMA phone?
i think im giving up on this, ive looked for CDMA flex files everywhere, they are not to be found...not even at the alltel store.

unfortunately the flash/flex back up tools to NOT work on CDMA phones... so you wont find an Alltel, Verizon, Telus, Bell Mobility, etc.. FLEX on the internet.. and the only flash files you'll find have been "leaked" to us some how... (either a person working for that carrier, etc... copied the file and posted it on the internet)...
Work has been underway to come up with tools to do a flash/flex backup from one phone that we can then apply to another and have it work... they have made progress, BUT it is not 100% succesful "end to end"... i.e. the target phone doesn't work...
As for the store not having the FLEX, that is possible... there really shouldn't be a need to re-apply the flex in most cases...

true...if a customer brings in a phone thats possibly buggy, they can reflash with firmware to try to resolve that problem. i guess the manufacturer burns the flex into the phone before shipment or something...
i had my memory stick handy while i was there, if i found the flex on the hard drive i was going to quickly save it to my memory stick, but didnt find an .hs file, plus the store was a little busy, if it hadnt been for a buddy of mine i wouldnt have had access to it at all. if i had any luck at that i would have posted it here !
it also seems that the version of RSD they were using didnt even give the option to update the flex, just the firmware. i asked them if they still had PST...and they gave me a blank stare.
oh well...
