I have a phone unlocked with Cingular service but the phone says its Cell One. How can I change this or get around it to either not be on the phone or make it actually say Cingular?

Any chance you could post exactly how I should go about making this change? I really just want to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm looking at guides online but I want to make sure I'm doing it correctly using P2K Phone file manager and XVI32.

This is pretty much a n00b proof way of doing it.

Download the 0032_0001 seem with P2Kman, open it with Moto-Tool and put a check here:

Save in Moto-Tool, reupload with P2KMan, restart the phone, done.

so by changing to 0, this means that the phone reads from the cell tower instead of the sim??

does this increase reception for users like tmobile?? My L6 is reading off the cell tower instead of my sim

1. Yes.

well my unlocked L6 reads from the tower and the reception is better than my branded moto v330

I believe mine is reading from the tower now as it says Cellular One DCS

Where can I get Moto-Tool? My searches have proved to be unsuccessful thus far.

You must've missed the wiki at the top of the motorola forum. It has links to "most" of the software discussed in these forums. LINK
The motorola tool is listed under the various section.
