Well I picked up a GD55 today as a backup phone, actually I bought it off ebay and got it today... anyway, first off I'm not sure in the settings what "band" I should select for cingular 900/1800, 900/1900, 1900, 1800, or 900. When I first got it it didn't work at all until I changed it, but which one best fits cinuglar...

Second of all there appers to be some sort of a problem I can't hear anything out of the ear piece at all. I can make calls and when I talk the other phone can hear me but I can't hear them, is there some sort of a setting, or is there a problem with the phone most likely?

The 900Mhz and 1800Mhz are not used in the US/Canada as their GSM frequencies are 850Mhz and 1900Mhz. You can choose 900/1900 or just 1900 and the phone will work.

Cingular uses both GSM850/1900Mhz which means depending on where you are, you may not have coverage with a 1900Mhz only phone.

Contact the seller to see if there was any problems with the phone.

Thanks, I sent the seller a question about the network before I figured it out, and he said if I couldnt get it to connect to cingular he would replace it, so hopefully he will replace it because of the earpiece problem too. It was a new unit, so i would guess it is just broken... frustrating!

Thanks again.
