Quadband seem edit a V80?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I know some Motos can be seem edited to enable the 850mhz band and was wondering if it could be done to a v80? Thanks!

AFAIK, you can't seem edit ANY Moto phone to enable the 850band. That's like installing software for hardware that isn't present.

it is possible to enable the 850mhz on certain moto phones. I was able to make my L6 quad band.

Making the v80 quad band is possible, but first you have to remove the battery and see where it was made. If it was made in Singapore like mine, then no the 850mhz band enabled won't make a difference, but if it was made in the uk, then the 850mhz band will make a difference.

there's already a huge v80 superthread about making it quad band

You can flash sh03y's e398 preparer flash and that will make it quad band. I used to have one of those. v80's hardware is capable of quad band.

cool let me know how it works out! Also did you try the flex i posted or just the enabler? Also where did u buy you v80 from? thanks!!

Posted by: phattbam

I used the flex you posted at first. but then I heard the enabler did the job. that's what I currently have on my phone. being that the area I'm in has bad reception even with 850 or 1900, I'll have to drive down the street to try it out. as for the where I got the v80 it was from a seller off of Craigslist. It's made in Singapore.

cool i am awaiting your updates. Be sure you have seem edited to enable 850mhz option also just incase, its in xlr8 seem map

Posted by: djnick

btw question: Does the v80 have a VIBE AND RING option or just VIBE THEN RING? Thanks

Nick,

If I remember correctly European model v80's could be Quad-Band, the ones from Asia could not be. I tried the flex above whan I had my Asian version V80 and it made no difference in reception but on my friends Euro one it made a big difference?

You really had to ask this? J/K

I did both to mine. Flashed then seem edited? As far being Orange branded it should be European.

As far as reception it shouldn't be a prblem for you as Cali has good cell sites and I lost 1-2 calls out of every 20 calls I made while I had this phone.

hopefully im gonna get that orange one and try it. BTW you said you tried the flex i posted AND the enabler/seem edit combo and neither of them worked? ppl are saying it is some saying it isnt, which is it? did you not get 850mhz signal or was reception low or could you not make any calls?

I just based my opinion on reception between the phone I had and my friends since I had hers for a week due to me modding it. I flashed and seem edited both phones and hers got better reception bar none.

I have tested my made in Singapore V80 with the enabler flash and it works. I was on the field test screen it picked up numbers in the 100's and I placed a call and received a call.

How was reception compared to other phones on 850mhz? Same or worse or better?

Posted by: phattbam

it's not quite up to par. But it's enough to hear clearly.. about 1-2 bars short at times. it's jumpy

Interesting ill have to test it. IF thats the case then it is true about the v80 hardware, quad band probably didnt pass testing so they didnt approve it.

Posted by: phattbam

yeah. I think that might have been the case, as someone else had pointed that out. I still use mine though. I get enough reception to use it efficiently
