I just got AIM working on my v3i with cingular and I am able to send messages (I can confirm that people receive them as well) but I have had people send me test messages and I do not receive them. I tried searching the forums but couldn't find any help.
Also as a bit of a side question. Is there anyway to see someone's away message in the mobile aim?

settings/phone status/my tel number/ 1) is your cell number stored in this first slot? or does it say empty? If its empty...edit it, give it a name and enter your number. Get incoming ims now? pm me your id and ill help ya test it if you need it.

It is named "Line 1" and has my number stored. All other lines are empty. Unfortunetly I don't think that is the problem.

since its already stored correctly, id say its pretty safe to assume thats not the problem! lol

Alright, I did some testing. I was on aim going through the settings and saw the "forward to mobile" thing and set that up. What that does, though, is keep you online all the time and just sends any IMs to your phone number as text messages when you arent signed on a computer. I tested that and it works fine. The problem still happens when I actually sign on to AIM on my phone though. Is there a connection setting that could be causing this? I obviously have most of it set up correctly if I am able to sign in and send messages.

I think I may have found the problem but I don't know how to fix it. I found that I didn't edit the cfg files that were made for T-Mobile in the download I got for AIM/Yahoo etc. What do I need to change in the aol_brand.cfg to make it work with cingular? right now it has...

I only edited the "ucs2_wvim.dfl" file with the cingular info. I guess that allows me to connect and send messages. I'm assuming I need to change the t-mobile addesses to something else.

I got it to work. The problem was I didn't resend the accounts file after I made my changes every time and it wasnt matching up with something there. If anyone needs the settings send me a PM and I'll let you know how I got everything working.
