okay well my mom bought a mustang a couple weeks back with no cruise control so its hard to monitor speed if ur drivin on a highway for a couple hours ...so heres the story i was drivin on a highway and i had been drivin for a couple of hours and i was just zoned out and next thing i know i look up in the mirror and there is a cop pulllin me over and turns out iw as 83 in a 70 omfg i didnt even realize i was goin that fast and then last week i got pulled over for doin 76 in a 70 i was in a speed trap and it was at night.. but 2 tickets in 2 weeks and its NOT even my car...so i seriously need to get a cruise control for it so i dont get anymore tickets..does anyone know where i can get a cruise control without havin to take it to a dealer cuse its 850 $ like maybe somewhere off the internet....

I'd check out some of the local junk/wreck yards. They might have some mustangs layin around and a lot of times, they'll give you the parts at a good price if you go in there and pull them off yourself.

Yah...best bet would be to go to the pick n pull or junk yard....Im not to familar with installing a cruise control so that one im not to sure where to take it or how much it would be

either bring it to the dealer ordon bother w/ it

cuz i'm pretty sure the cruise control program has to go thought the ECU/PCM

and if u diy u might also have to reporgram the ECU cuz there might be program conflicts....
and oyea...
is ur own fault for zoning out and gone over spd....
i know is hard to drive for hours in the highway... but that not a excuise for zoning out....
have a cup of coffee on the way or give urself a break at gas stops or smth....

i dont think this "it's your own fault; no excuses" talk is necessary. the guy made a mistake, he doesn't need a lecture from some guy who likes to talk with a bunch of elipsis used incorrectly. oh and elipsis only have 3 dots, not 4.

Per the topic of the thread - maybe it's time to invest in a repair manual. They can be fairly costly, but they're a dang good investment. If you think about it, it's only the price of an hour or two at the stealership (ford charges 40-60 an hour i think). you know what i mean? You should also check out some ford/mustang forums.

You got a ticket for 76 in a 70? They wouldn't bother with that here unless you were the ONLY car on the road, or it's the end of the month. Usually 11 over and up on the highways is what they get you at. Of course all our highways are 55 mph, so we can't even go 70

Posted by: baker11

i know it was my fault thats why i want cruise control so it never happens again...but i guess i will go post at a mustang forum and see what comes up

p.s i could install it my self its just a matter of findin one lol

Jesus Christ this is the dumbest thread in the history of the internet.

And if you can't fight off a 76 in a 70, you have to be at least mildly retarded.

dumbest thread in the history of the internet because he's looking for help with cruise control? ok FTD, FTL. Thanks for your worthless hostile opinion.

he never said he wasn't going to fight off the ticket. he just said he got a ticket.

Besides, something that small, i'd just take the ticket and go to mitigation hearing for a differred finding as opposed to contesting it.

I do not understand the logic in that post. The OP had a simple question and this is a very sarcastic and rude answer. How about we all try and play nice so this thread does not get locked.

okay im actually just taking defensive driving to get them both dropped so i dont have any points against my license or anything...and thanks eimajuno for covering my back

how much you want to make it perm now?
lol jk

and getting a crusie control is going to be pain in the behind. You canget one at most auto wreckers, but it is a SUPER annoying to install. I did it on an old corrola once and well lets just say ill never do it again.

But unless she is doing multiple hours worth of driving, its not too terribly hard to drive without it.

lol i'm with this guy

Anyway, is it just a switch and a wire/plug to the ECU?

Posted by: cidknee

dunno, but on the 98 corolla i did it was a bugger and 5/8ths. but u might assume that it could be alot easier, or alot harder. I persoanlly wont drive a Ford, so I dont know.

it's the actual CC controller (on the steering wheel), and a box in the engine bay that is hooked up to the throttle body via throttle cable. The box receives information from the CC controller + ECU and it adjusts teh speed accordignly by pulling on the cable to open the throttle wider (that's if you want to go faster or if you're trying to get back up to speed).
