(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've managed to make a few MP3 files using Audacity and encoding with LAME. The file is 117kb and I email it to my phone and it doesnt work. I even tried renaming the file to .mid with no success. The original file started out as an MP3 and I choped and encoded. Why wouldnt this work? what am I missing?

what encoding settings are you using??

play the file back in WinAMP and do a "file info"... post what it says...

make sure the mp3 is set at a constant bit rate, not variable. recommended bit rate settings is between 32 and 192kbps. Stereo or mono is up to you.

Length: 30 seconds

CRCs: No, Copyrighted: No

You should be able to use LAME to encode as 48kbit or 64kbit... 44khz... Mono...

that should make it mpeg 1.0 Layer 3.

I use Cooledit Pro... You can also use Nero Wave Editor (comes with Nero Ultra Edition...
