is it possible to set the analog clock from the screen saver as the idle clock when the screen dims?

Posted by: phattbam

here are some pictures to better explain what I'm trying to achieve.

the analog clock (screensaver) bright.

analog clock dim.

time out mode digital clock.

go to your settings, then display settings and turn off the power saver. then set your screen saver in settings/display to analog clock. that should do what i think you want

Looking good, nice and shinny

thanks, I'll post my pics somewhere of the 8800 battery cover on the 8801.

I tried doing that as well, but it doesn't work for me.

Is it because I have a custom theme set on it? Because i some themes downloaded and I have one of those on it..so maybe thats why?

Posted by: phattbam

I got mine to work. it's kinda cool.. turn on screen saver and turn power saver off.

Posted by: phone_fanatic

^Yea I did that, doesn't work for me! Dunno why. Oh well I am sending in my phone for repair anyways, so it doesn't matter.

it's really that simple. but you have to select that particular screensaver.

Posted by: phattbam

yes.. I've done so.. I just hope turning off the power saver doens't have that much of an impact on it. The battery life on this thing isnt the best

Sorry, that quote was for phone fanatic to reference. But i'd like to reiterate that I haven't noticed any big differences in battery life. I'm still on the phone for over 2 hours without killing the battery with or without powersave mode on, so I'm not sure what powersave mode really does. The scrolling time thing was nice on my 6230, but I fail to see how helpful it would be in a static position since it tends to burn the screen.

Posted by: phattbam

true. I agree with the static positioning of the digital time.. but same goes to the analog clock. the hour markers dont move either. would that make it harmful in the long run?

@dohdough

I did select the type of screen saver as well, 'Analogue Clock'. Turned off my power saver, and selected screensaver. Nothing at all! I thought it was something to do with custom theme, but I tried default theme, it still doesn't work.

phatbam:
I'm sure it has the same effect, just less noticable because of positioning. But it seems that it would only be slightly noticable with certain colors being displayed anyways.

phone fanatic:
Isn't your phone screwed up anyways? As stupid as this sounds, try turning screensaver on.

Posted by: phone_fanatic

^Yea I can't try it now anyways. I shipped it today to evilgabbie, he is gonna fix it for me.
