Need some info about this item. Not had much luck trying to obtain this item in the UK (even Panasonic UK don't sell the right thing!).

From info in another post it seems that the button near the microphone acts as expected i.e. activates voice dialing and starts ends calls.

Would appreciate and info and maybe part number and images

I recently received an OEM panasonic earpiece for the GD87. I will try this weekend to post pics of the earpiece and the connector in particular. I haven't posted pics on this forum before so I will wing it I guess.

It has the answer/end button and will initiate a voice dial call by depressing the answer/end button and announcing the person you are calling.

Have a great day!

Try here Panasonic eShop. They say they are available now.

MA123 this is the item I bought its just a generic. If you look a some of the other handsets on the site they use exactly the same item.

Bazzer,

I just purchased a Panasonic handsfree here in Australia which is the one you are looking for. Has button to end call etc as well as voice dial.Works great! Part no EB-EMD87 and cost was $33.00 AUD.
Happy hunting!

A Panasonic handfree came with my GD55, but there are no buttons on it at all... I don't drive in HK, so I haven't used it, but I don't see much point in having a handsfree where you have to answer with the phone... I guess it's just not a feature the phone has

briz vagas thanks for the info it might help me locate one.

Lowlight the GD87 will automatically answer incoming calls when a hands free is connected (even with the phone closed). So a button to end the call would be useful. Also if it works as Nokia units you can also activate voice dialing with the button, saves having to open the phone and select the person you need to dial.

Posted by: Bazzer

briz vagas any chance of letting me know the supplier in Australia.

I'm likely to visit either later this year or early next so maybe I can collect one when I'm over. Or I could persuade of of my relatives to get one before then.

MarkMalin, please see post from briz vegas

Could you see if Panasonic UK could supply the item with part code EB-EMD87?

Posted by: markmaslin

I have just ordered myself one should be with me in a few days, i will tell you ehat it is like when i get it.

Posted by: Bazzer

markmaslin

where did you order from and what did it cost?

Actually found a Pana leafet in PDF format on the web that details this handsfree and it states the button will start and end calls, and if the button is held for a while voice dialing is activated.

This is exactly what I require so I'll be very intersted to read your comments

go to www.panasonic.co.uk and click on eShop then follow the signs

Mark

sorry to say this is not the proper item (i got one from here last week)

this is a generic item (no button etc)

if fact of you look at some of the other handsets on the e-shop site they all use the same part number.

the item number for the proper item (EB-EMD87) tends to suggest this is specifically for the 87/88

and future products I would imagine!

Hi all.

New to the forums. Great place by the way.

I've been looking for a Data cable the GD87, saw it on the panasonic site, but for £41.03 that's way to but. But really need one.

Anyone know where I can get one a little cheaper?

Posted by: Bazzer

Data cable (USB ) plus software available from Carphonewarehouse about £30

Posted by: mhcq2002

Thanks for that.

Doe sanyone know of a silver handsfree for the GD87? so it will match the phone? It DOES NOT have to be PAna origional.

Posted by: Katie_Kat

Motorola makes a silver hands free with no answer/end button that looks quite nice with teh GD87. It is a standard 2.5 mm jack and has a good microphone & earpiece.

Posted by: JiggyJaggy

Hmm...sounds good. I didnt know a Motorola headset would work with it. Thanks!

The Orange Shop is selling a hands free for the GD87 which is a generic (i.e. it has a answer button that doesn't work). This is silver and looks OK. Costs about a tenner. (They actually sell the same one for other handsets as well, have a close look cause they sell it cheaper for Sony etc. even though its the same!)

The reason the button doesn't work is that the connector doesn't have the right connections. If you look at the socket on your phone carefully, you'll see an extra contact outsice the black circle. The correct handsfree would need a 2.5mm jack plug and a collar to connect to this extra contact.

Bazzer you are seriously going to laugh....I work at orange mate an I of all people forgpt we even sell those!!!! Shows how much i like thinking of work heh?? ha ha

Just one of those DOH moments!

As you may have seen from this thread trying to get hold of OEM version. I know people in US and Australia have managed to get them. Phoned Pana UK today and was informed that the one thier selling is the correct unit, but it ain't.

I'll have to do a bit of searching when I come back from holiday.

Just had a reply for Pana, the pukka handsfree should be available towards the end of March
