I recntly Upgraded my the rom on my 8125 from a 1.xx to 2.xx and now WIFI no longer works properly. It now wants to use GPRS to connect no matter what setting I use it will not work with my wireless modem. I have had wifi working for over 7 months. Has any who has upgraded to a 2.xx rom gotten thier wifi to work? Looking at Cingular website for wifi it shows that wifi uses GPRS now to work. Did Cingular purposly do this to force customers to use their network or is this just a bug in the new roms?? I found this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56197 which others seem to have the same trouble.

The WiFi works great for me. Everytime I come accross a WiFi network, the com center pop up and asked if I want to connect to it.

What I lost with the new firmware is the auto email download for POP mail. This function used to be almost like "push mail" but it was free. Now after the firmware upgrade the automatic email checking stopped. I have to "send/Receive" to check the POP account now. Anyone khow how to turn it back on?

WiFi works great for me, and I have updated to the official 2.25.11.1 ROM for the 8125 from HTC.

OK, I think I got a pattern on this one. I was at a Starbucks yesterday and I got this GPRS overWiFi problem. I fixed it by rebooting the device. I do not have this problem at all when connected to my home WiFi network.

It appears as if you have used GPRS/EDGE before, Internet connectivity will default to GPRS/EDGE even if you then connect to a new or open WiFi hotspot.
