I just purchased a e815 and the motorola data link kit i tried to copy the phone book from my old 710 to the 815 but nither phone would connect to the computer. the usb new hardware bubble and indicator alarm detect a new device but the solftware won't detect my phone can anyone help? please i would like to actually use the solftware.

I'm having the same problem, any suggestions??? I've had MPT recognize my phone twice now, but I'm not sure how to make it recognize the phone every time I plug it into the comp. Really getting frustrated...

I have the same problem. I installed the P2K drivers and P2Kman file transfer program but it doesn't seem to recognize it when I hook up the E815. Windows does seem to realize some device has been connected because I can hear the notification chime, but I don'y think it recognizes the phone specifically because P2Kman continues say "not connected".

btw, everything works great with my other phone the V551 - the software recognizes it exactly and says "connected" immediately after I plug it in using the USB cable.

Not sure what the problem is....maybe E815 needs newer or different drivers installed ?

Suggestion...

Download -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/DriverTool-421a.exe

To use this... disconnect your phone from the computer. Run the Drivertool.exe, then reconnect your phone to a USB port Built into your pc (DO NOT USE A PORT ON A USB HUB). Window's Add New Hardware Wizard will run, search for, find, install the driver, and your phone will then be listed as a Motorola USB Modem in device manager.

Now, this does assume a few things...
1. The cable you have is 100% compatible with the Moto SKN6311 or AAKN4011.
2. The cable you have is definately good/working
3. The data port on the phone is definately good/working

Something you need to be aware of...

CDMA phones (what Verizon, Alltel, Telus, Bell Mobility uses) are NOT the same as GSM Phones (like T-Mobile, Cingular, etc)...

Most of the hacking tools and tutorials on the Net for GSM Phones do NOT work on CDMA phones...

P2KCommander does work (if you have PST or Motorola Software Update aka MSU running in the back ground)... but gives some volume name failed errors, and such... and its P2KAutoStart app needs to be disabled... (v3.22 and v3.26 seem to be the most stable for CDMA phone users). NOTE: P2KCommander doesn't show hidden files/folders.

The SD modified P2KSeem works perfectly... (but again, needs PST or MSU running)... This is because it was modified but superd**** to work on the CDMA phones!!

The rest.. P2KTools, P2KManager, P2KMenu Editor, MotoKit, etc.. either do NOT work, or have MAJOR PROBLEMS on CDMA Phones... WHen they do "work" they also need PST or MSU running.. While the flash/flex backup utils "appear to work" they do NOT produce a VALID output file that can be used to flash another phone...

Seem Edits are different between GSM and CDMA phones, the seem file number, etc... are different... there are more tools available to do seem edits in the GSM world.. in the CDMA we have only 1... the SD Modified P2KSeem (aka P2KSeem for V710)...

So.. be careful of what you read... if it doesn't specifically say CDMA or V710, E815, V3C or V3M, its probably something for a GSM MOTO which is not going to be accurate for you, and could end up messing up your phone!!
