What's wrong with BL 8.26

I've seen many post about downgrading the Boot Loader on a V3 from 08.26. I'm new to the V3, so AI haven't been following this. What's the problem with BL 08.26?

It used to prevent you from unlocking the phone. It also got in the way of a mod here or there.

RSA Security features were added with BL 8.26. There's nothing "wrong" with it, but older BLs - which didn't have the security enabled - can be unlocked much easier. There's a free way to try (Scotty2's method), but if that doesn't work, even BL 8.26 can be unlocked remotely by any provider out there.
