I'm looking to get data service for my laptop and was looking at getting just a PC Card which after discounts would run me about $54/month for unlimited service. After seeing all the chatter on HF about the 8125 i'm looking to that as a possible alternative. It would be more expensive for me to start off but would give me a PDA, voice service (which I don't realy need, i already have an extra line I don't use) and from what I am reading data service for about $85/month. I guess the root of my question is would using the 8125 as a data service (for my laptop) be comparable to using a PC Card? Also is using the 8125 in this manner acceptable in Cingulars eyes?
I have USCC right now for voice and they have put a stop to using my phone as a data device. Any thoughts are appriciated. Also if anyone has used either the PC Card or the 8125 in the Illinois/Iowa area near the Mississippi River area I would like to know how the service is.. both voice and data.....

I say go with the PC Card. I own an 8125 and use it as my cell phone and for Exchange email. I have connected it to the laptop as a modem, but only when the WiFi wasn't available at the location I was at.
If you don't need the voice... then there is no reason to go with the 8125

Yeah I gotto thinking the same thing after a while. I was attracted to it as a PDA, but the last PDA I had collected dust most of the time, and I would hate to commit to the extra cost per month and not use it. Thanks for the suggestion, now I need to find out if the data service in this area is any good.... I had an OGO and it worked most of the time but If i'm going to commit to a contract i'm gonna have to do some research...
