Nokia N80 - Is there a way to close the slide without hanging up?

I tried a few searches on this, to no avail... Hopefully someone has the answer...

Is it possible to close the slide during a call and not hang up, or simply to disable the slide altogether? Why would I want to do that you ask? Well, if I call my favorite airline, I end up having to punch a number of complicated 23 digit combinations before I can speak to someone, and when that happens, I would like to close the slide and put the phone away (while using the headset...).

Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!

PS: I am using one of the older firmwares, and maybe the answer is in a more recent version, but I did not find anything suggesting that.

I don't think there's anyway of closing the slider without terminating the call. The only solution I could think of is store the numbers you call on the contacts list. Then with the slider closed, browse the number from the contacts list and select the number you want to call (dial the number by clicking the green button). This way, your slider remains closed while ur in the call.

My other gripe with the N80 is the keypad always gets accidentally unlocked when in the leather case and it's in my pocket. Right now you unlock it by clicking the left button and then the right button. But you can also click the center button from the navi-buttons and click OK. This is where the problem is happening I think because the center navi button is sort of higher than the 2 side buttons making it easier to tap while in a case. It's so annoying that sometimes I didn't realize that my phone already dialed some numbers because the keypad got unlocked.

this is in the manual,
you have to press the left shoulder button and then slide the top part down
this causes the phone to ask if you want to lock the keypad or not, and continues the call
hope this works for you!

i dont think so...nokia sliders are meant to hang up a call when u close the slide, same thing with the 880/1 and 8890~

Lil Wayne,

Thanks for the info. It works! I never found it in the manual, but then again, it is a rather boring reading... Thanks again!
