Sidekick2/Sidekick3

Hello all,
I currently have the sidekick2 with insurance and I have been watching the T-mobile website, and I noticed that a couple days after they released the sidekick3, they removed the sidekick2, so they are stopped in production or what? So I'm wondering within a month or two if I will be able to call Asurion or whatever and claim my sidekick2 as lost and then get an upgrade to the sidekick3, which is what my buddy did with the original sidekick to get the sidekick2... Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Just because they took it off the website, doesnt mean they dont have any more. They stopped producing them, but they still have fru (factory refurbished units) which is probably what you would get from Asurion. If you wait atleast 3-4 months, there would probably be the sidekick 3's as replacements.

hope this helps
-Dan

SK3 as a replacement for SK2? Hehe, I hope my keyboard starts bubbling come winter time.

So basically you're asking if you can commit insurance fraud? That's a great thing to post on the internet. Hopefully Asurion trolls boards like this. People doing these types of things are the reason that the deductable for SKs is 3 times that of most other phones.
BTW, if you did want to go that route, a stolen/lost claim will require a police report. So not only would you be commiting insurance fraud, you'd also be a felon.

I would have to obviously send my sk2 in, and since my jump/menu buttons have been shot for a while now, I think it's about time I did call this piece of **** in, I'm still debating if I even want to continue as a sk user, since they seem to be made/produced VERY CHEAPLY... so no it wouldn't be fraud kid.

man shut the hell up......NO BODY GIVES A DAMN.... they rape us, so we might as well rape them....S#!T who cares!
AND FOR YOUR INFO, if you file a STOLEN CLAIM u DONT HAVE TO GET A DAMN POLCE REPORT...u only need a police report if it was claimed as STOLEN

No, see my point is that you're not raping them, you're raping the other users of the SK, hence the higher deductable. You totally contradicted yourself as well. And go ahead and try to file a "lost" report, tell me what they ask for. Then I'll let them know you're commiting a crime.

If you actually did have your device stolen or you genuinely lost it, then it would not be fraud. If you decide to "lose" your device because you hope to get a free upgrade that you don't deserve, then it is fraud.

Well, i dont think they will send you the SK3 until they stop repairing the SK2, i mean can anyone solidfy saying that they had a replacement sk3 from an sk2 from lost/stolen?

Wow, your a loser CelticKuja. You know how many people commit fraud. You know how much t-mobile profits a year? so why do you give a **** that an hard working man who pays into insurance to get a sidekick cheaper? its hardly life or death here buddy

Yeah fraud sucks.

But I looked over my Asurion contract... seems I have to get my phone LOST or STOLEN, AND pay a 110.00 deductible!!! The contract says it covers:

"risks of mechanical or electrical breakdown or being lost, stolen or directly damaged, except as limited or excluded elsewhere in the policy."

And "elsewhere" they exclude:

"d. Wear, Deterioration, Latent Defect
(1) Wear and tear, deterioration; or
(2) Hidden or latent defect, including equipment design defect, or any quality in the property that causes it to damage or destroy itself.
e. Cosmetic Damage
Cosmetic damage, however caused, that does not affect the manufacturer's intended use. This includes, but is not limited to:
(1) Cracking, marring, or scratching.
(2) Change in color or other change in the exterior finish."

Okay, cosmetic damage I can understand. But I think "or any quality in the property that causes it to damage or destroy itself" should be covered!

So MY main Q is- does being DROPPED on a hard surface qualify as "direct damage" (covered)? I filed a claim 2-3 days ago and have not heard back yet >_<

The only time it'll be free if it is a manufacturer defect... like a bubbling keyboard. I had mine stolen... but it isn't considered stolen if you didn't see it stolen, or something. I had to report it as lost and that needed a police report too.

I busted my screen and they tried to give me tha run around so I hung up and called again and told em that tha screen wasn't busted they sent me a new one in a day

They won't have SK3's to REPLACE SK2's. If there is not SK2 to replace, you'd still have to pay some sort of difference if you insist on an SK3, or won't even take your claim. They're not gonna send you something that is worth more than what you orginally have. Insurance companies are like that, they DON'T WANT to pay up, and will do everything possible to not shell out the money.

So if all those fraud commiting losers decided to shoot someone today too, would that then also be okay with you? I give a **** about it because it screws with MY insurance rates making it more expensive for ME. But then again, if you're seriously going to call ME a loser because I'm a law abiding citizen, then I can't expect you to follow logic, eh?

No matter how many rules people make, no matter what electronic coding they implement to protect from pirating, or hacking, people will always find ways around any system.

Welcome to life.

That's funny, but highly unlikely. First off, true... people do follow this course when they don't like what they hear due to their lack of responsibility and get upset of the conscience and will hang-up and call Tmobile back. However, account are fully notated on the problems and course of action... including if the customer got disconnected. Notes can be missed by some inexperienced Tier1 rep's, but to go through Data Support and then up to Advance Data is hard to believe that would be missed... not that it's impossible.

One thing about the SK devices is that SK's are not advanced exchanged... meaning Tmobile does not simply mail you a SK out and wait for you to mail yours back. SK's are only able to be exchanged through a post exchange process... meaning you have to send in your phone first and a replacement will be mailed back to you if there's *NO* physical damage or water damage. If there is any, they simply return your device back to you. This process generally takes about 10-14 days.

Now, in the event you some how got past all that and no one put any notes on your account or no one read the notes and someone was able to send you an advance exchange on a SK... you still lost out because you'll be hit with a $100 Out of Warranty fee for the physical damage... and you still will have to wait a few days because UPS's fastest shipping method is Express Shipping: 2-3 business days.

You can call Tmobile at any time to do an upgrade. Claiming it as lost/stolen won't effect the price nor will you receive any extra discount towards the upgrade. Tmobile does not handle lost/stolen phones... Asurion does, and they will only send you out a refurbished replacement. I'd be very careful though if you process a claim. Tmobile's Fraud department is very thorough.
