Thinking about getting the i-mate SP5m. Look all over the net and not much reviews or info about this phone, but the little bit of info was promising.

I'm really looking into the,

Sony Ericsson W810 <<< If I can't find nothing betta under $500.

Nokia E61 <<< For keyboard & net .

Sony Ericsson W710i <<< Don't know if I can wait until it comes out.

If the i-mate SP5m isn't buggy, then It would be my first choice above what I just listed.

Any review and/or comparisons of this phone?

Thanks in Advance.

I just got one, and I like it.

Currently looking into editing some registries so that I can customize it a bit more (home screens, etc).

Not sure if you want further details.

I had this phone for about 6 months, and I can say, that it wsant buggy at all, it was not fragile, easy to use and easy on the eyes, good for multimedia, and if you want connectivity it has it comin' out the wazoo. You should get it.

i have had all of the phones you listed. i liked the sp5 version better then the sp5m as it felt a little lighter in my pocket. i love the way it syncs with outlook and the email works great. music worked well and the camera was ok, not great though. the call quality and reception were great

the e61 was the only s60 device that i have used and actually liked. it worked very well and the keyboard worked great, but at the end of the day i really dont like the s60 os. surfing the net is best on this phone because of the size of the screen. the lack of a camera bothered me too. reception was not as good as i expected and not as good as the sp5.

the w810 is really cool too and i actually use one as my backup when i dont want to carry my dopod s300. it takes very good shots and the music software is great too. i think it sounds better then my ipod. the screen is a little small, but messaging, pics, and music software all work very well.

i use my phone for business and that is why i find the sp5 to be my choice. good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the input guys.

After reading so many review all over the net, I didn't find not even one major flaw review. They were a few minor flaw reviews, but I think it's mostly from people that aren't very tech savvy.

So I've made up my mind to get this phone. I'm going for the SP5 instead of the SP5m. Phone looks better in black, and buttons on top of keypad seem better.

Didn't realize that the T-mobile SDA is the same thing as the SP5m. Also heard that T-mobile puts a block on the wi-fi. They only let you use the wi-fi on their own t-zone hotspots.

I WILL BE BUYING PHONE UNLOCKED & UNBRANDED OF COURSE. Using it with cingular.

you can always load imate or qtek0s rom into it (talking about the SDA, and you get the phone half price)

this is based on SDA, similar to SP5m hardware wise
reception is good, speed is OK, good for audio/video player
gripes: unstable GPRS, miniSD is not hot-swappable, small buttons (I need fingernail to press), screen is not viewable outdoors, limited bt function (no OBEX)

Wi-Fi isn't blocked. I think I have the same unlocked and unbranded version that you're planning on getting (from eBay, right?).

I was able to get onto the net via WiFi from my parents' wireless router, as well as those unsecured fools that live in my condominium. It's great!

There is OBEX, but not in the traditional way. Files transfer via OBEX push (using the same Beam menu item used for IR transfer) as opposed to OBEX File Transfer or FTP profiles.

Also, the AKU2 update is supposed to have improved BT transfers.

What seller did you get this from? I, also, am considering the SDA. Since I am on Cingular, I know I need to get it unlocked, but would love to find a seller that has them without all the t-mob crap on it.

Perfect Rating... and he lives in your State as well.

After finding that I was never able to win any of his auctions, I just sent him a PM and he sold me one straight. We agreed on a mutual price.

Thanks...I'll give him a shout.

I just bought mine yesterday from: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...e=STRK:MEWA:SID

He's extremely communicative, sending me 2 emails to answer my request and giving me shipping info. Its unlocked and he gave me the choice of which ROM I wanted and I chose the i-Mate ROM, which is the one he recommended.

Just recieved sp5 today. LOVE IT so far, I just gotta config it more. Wi-fi works great. So does cingular media net. Seems to be a very solid phone.

Volume settings is a ***** to control tho, but is decent once you set it right.

I loaded it with a 1GB card. I'm mostly likely gonna get a higher memory card tho.

I'll hit back, in about a week.
