Sanyo 5300 antenna

Has anyone noticed the odd placement of the antenna on the 5300. A lot of other phones have it on the right side. I tend to cup my shoulder to my ear, thus holding the phone like a regular portable phone. The damn antenna gets in the way when it is retracted. Any idea why they wouldn't put it on the right side?

I don't know... but it irritates me also. I find that I usually hold my phone with my right hand, and my index finger generally goes right over where the antenna is now (but wasn't on my 5150). This means that I have to hold my phone in a very awkward way to avoid touching the antenna with my fingers.

So I've got the same question:

Does anyone know why they moved the antenna to the other side on the SCP-5300?

Doesn't really make sense for the move. I think the buttons should be on the other side, too...but then again, I have little say in things like that

I still think the phone is awesome.

I love the phone but my only complaint is moving the antenna and side buttons to the opposite side as the 5150...in some ways i miss that phone

i like the antenna placement, i usually have phone in my left hand so its perfect, buttons are on that side too which i like, can adjust volume without having to hold phone away from head, it was a bit akward at first since all my phones have been with antenna on opposite side but i like the change

It's good if you usually hold it in your left hand, but bad if you usually hold it in your right (which I do). Not only is it awkward to avoid touching the antenna, but it's very difficult to use the side up/down keys to do a page up/down when browsing the web. Oh well... not much we can do about it now.
