V635 - Large weird file

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

On my V635, both Motorola Explorer 0.93 and P2kCommander v.3.2.6 noticed a file 3MB in size, with a weird filename, and couldn't do anything with it.
I noticed a few days ago, my phone memory had like 4meg left, now it has 800k.

The file shows up in P2kCommander v.3.2.6 as ||||||||||| and won't delete, just gives me a generic failure, it knows it's 3MB in size.
Has anyone else had this, and how do I kick it off my phone?

wow...your paranoia is even scaring me!

Is that the first Motorola Mobile Virus?

No, i've had it before on another 6FR firmware flash, and so has someone else.
It just randomly generates from no-where.
10MB end user memory. 3MB being clogged up by ("||||||||") a corrupt hell-knows-what file that won't delete...anyone else have any ideas?

Hmm. What did I do with my phone before it turned up... well I recorded some voice names out of curiosity of the feature, because I never used it before. Then I deleted the voice names...
hmm... I noticed all my texts dissappear from my outbox every now and then, no filters set...
Uhh! I just wanna kick it off the tinee 10MB memory, if I have too little left then the phone will start crashing...

wow...never had anything like this...EVER.

2 V300s

Anyone else?

Hmm, now I magically have 4meg of memory left...

These files have been seen on other phones, I have one on my V635 as well (under 88R):

Note the actual file name in the lower left pane. Unfortunately, since it has an invalid file name, I haven't been able to transfer the file (to peek inside) with any of my current p2k tools.

Nobody seems to know what they are. I can only assume that it's some temporary file that's needed by the phone to operate.

I hardly think anyone's being paranoid. They just want to know where their space is being used.

they are bluetooth file transfers that did not complete or got corrupted in the process somehow. try this method :

try sending a file through bluetooth and when it starts "looking for devices", let it run til it says "no devices found". it should get rid of it cuz thats how i got rid of mine.
