I heard abotu a year ago from a friend of mine that about 15 years ago GM had designed special carburators that made the cars get at leas 45MPG. It was istalled on about 45 cars, for testing. After the first oil change, the technicials were trained to remove the carburators and return them to GM. After that, these carburators were never seen again.

Does anyone know more info on this deal? Why wouldent GM releasae these carburators to the public so that people wouldent have to spend crap loads of money on gas? The world could be different.

it doesn't really matter. Fuel injection is much more fuel efficient than Carburetor power cars. It doesn't matter how fuel efficient you make a carburetor, if you put it on a heavy car, there goes your fuel efficiency.
