Need answers to my Verizon V3c Questions please.

My v3c is the crippled version 3 with obex disabled.

1. I would like to be able to transfer files to my v3c via bluetooth. I need to flash the version to .02 or .04p. Does the .04p have any known problems?

2. I have a pc to do the flash and i have a mac with bluetooth to send the files. If I flash to .04p will i need MPTs to transfer files?

3. I plan on using the method from this site to flash http://whatsbruin.net/2006/03/25/software-downgrade/
This site seems a bit old so will this method work correctly? If there is a more reliable method i can follow please post link.

4. most likely a few questions will come up about the process so this thread will just be the backround info i need to know. If there is anything else i should know before I start please post.

all help is greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.

Start by reading the info here:

There is a great deal of info there.

I actually flashed my verizon v3c to the gatw 02p and i didn't have one problem since my transferring worked as planned with both the usb cable and bluetooth. IF you need a program to do the flash both multiflashflex from PST and RSDLite by Motorola work great.

lastly, that site does look old and everything seems like it would work even though i didn't read through the whole thing.

each version of the firmware has its own "quirks"... one known issue with the .04P is the "orange" external LCD... But there is a SEEM EDIT to fix this... See the list of edits... ITEM # 3a on the HOW TO'S page at http://mark.cdmaforums.com

but most V3C users who stick with the Verizon firmware say to use the LEAKED .04P... (available from http://www.humpa.com/vzw )

Once you have the LEAKED .04P, Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer support will be restored to the phone... So, if your PC or Mac is properly bluetooth equipped, then you can use BT OBEX FT's instead of MPT, to transfer Ring Tones, Pictures and Videos... (NOTE: Some windows bluetooth drivers do not properly support BT OBEX)...

Per item #16 on the HOW TO's page at http://mark.cdmaforums.com ... I usually suggest using -> http://darklodge.com/files/docs/alltel_flash.htm

While its geared to flashing with the Alltel firmware, then getting all the verizon specific stuff working... the FLASH process is exactly the same... So, use it... just ignore the part about needing a proxy server, and follow the steps up to and including where it says to do a Maset Reset, then Master Clear and restart the phone... You're finished, as the rest is only needed if you are using the Alltel flash...

HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY before you begin...
Go in expecting to "loose everything" on the phone... so Backup your contacts, pictures, write down your "custom settings" etc... before you flash... Some stuff will be retained, but better to be safe than sorry...
and if you've done any seem edits before you flash... you may have to re-do them AFTER the flash...

If using a LAPTOP to flash... make sure it does NOT go to sleep, suspend, etc.. before the flash process is complete!!

Yes, you can... but I haven't so... you're on your own... MultiFlash/Flex that comes with PST (as described on that link) is really easy to use.
