Charging issue

My battery will only charge if I take out the battery and put it back in, if I don't it says unable to charge. Any reasons ?

dirty battery pins perhaps?

Inside where the battery is , or outside where the charger connect ? Because for some reason also I have to usually push my charger cord in hard to get it to charge.
