Trouble installing drivers for V3 and V400

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have been trying to install the drivers for my old V400 phone and a regular V3 razr that I just got for my mom, but everytime I try to install the drivers, which i am almost certain are correct, i get an error saying Windows was unable to install the modem. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please PM me if you have any helpful ideas.

The Driver Tool from BVRP should be correct for BOTH the GSM and CDMA phones to get Windows to see them as Moto USB Modem...

The latest BVRP Driver tool, comes with MPT V4.21a... C:\Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools\Inf\DriverTool.exe
Or you can DL from -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Files/DriverTool-421a.exe

To use this... disconnect your phone from the computer. Run the Drivertool.exe, then reconnect your phone to a USB port Built into your pc (DO NOT USE A PORT ON A USB HUB). Window's Add New Hardware Wizard will run, search for, find, install the driver, and your phone will then be listed as a Motorola USB Modem in device manager.

The last bitpim version I've used is 9.04... and it CAN't auto detect the V3M, E815M, or V3CM... you must manually select it..

ya it comes up and says can not detect phone so i click yes and it brings up the settings and for phone type doesnt matter if i put v710m or v3cm it still doesnt work. and for the comm port i select browse and click moto usb motem but i still doesnt work. i can click the get phone data and my screen on my phone will light up then it says busy down in the corner with recieving date from phone but then get the error phone is not responding while transitioning mode from brew to obex shrug

o and i got mpt and it sees my phone and everything but i dont see a menu for doing ringtones??

Have you SEEM EDITED the phone? (seem 2742, offset 6A, bit 0) If no, then pick V3C, not V3CM... you won't be able to ADD using the GUI support, but you can OVERWRITE existing ring tones and pictures...

Btw, other V3M users are reporting the error while transitioning the phone... some have been successful unplugging the phone, power it off (or pull the battery), then powering back on (replace batt first if you removed)... others are not able to get past it....

with a STOCK V3M, you WONT see the MultiMedia Studio icon on the tool bar (the part of MPT that does the ring tones, pictures and videos...)...

See the MPT link at http://mark.cdmaforums.com

well.. visiting http://mark.cdmaforums.com as suggested... it appears that Verizon disables some features on the phones (like the ability to add ring tones and pictures)... seem editing can re-enable these feautres...

There is even a Seem Edits link there that has a walk thru of how to do a seem edit...

NOTE: BitPim's help also states that the seem edit is necessary to ADD ringtones using BitPim...
