Blackberry Text messaging?

Can you text message on a BB? My husband has a 7100 from Nextel. He has a Blackberry data plan along with the phone plan if that makes sense. How can he text message someone? Or can you not do that with a BB?

Nextel BB can receive text messages but you can't send text messages.

Sure you can, you just have to send it as an MMS message. The 7100i is already set up to do that however the 7520 needs a software upgrade to do MMS.

i'm guessing you must have a data plan to use text messaging because when i click on a contact there is no option for "sending an sms message"

i just bought an unlocked nextel/sprint blackberry 7100 and i slapped my telus sim in it and it works fine but just to make calls. Will telus give me a data plan even though i'm using nextels blackberry?

Does Nextel still charge for using the MMS with the Blackberry?

We tried using the MMS method but it wouldn't go through. What does MMS stand for? Do any of you have that feature that have been able to use it?

MMS is the multimedia txt message (video, picture messages). SMS is just the standard txt message.

I have the Cingular Blackberry plan ($29.99/m unlimited internet and blackberry use) does this include sms as well or is that seperate?

the cingular blackberry data doesn't incloude text messages.

Data plan doesn't include SMS text messages, but you can send/receive SMS messages for 10 cents a piece. Sounds like the OP is trying to figure out IF you can send SMS messages from a BlackBerry.
