Brief discussion on Today screen usage, at:

Interesting topic....I've gone back and forth over the past months and years. I'm currently lean and clean and the biggest reason is b/c I've become more and more dependant on my pda/phone and can't handle any slow downs or resets. It needs to be stable.

Similar experience for me. In the evenings, working on an Axim X51V some of the time, don't mind a little more style / panache and business on the Today screen. But for the work day, and relying very heavily on a converged device to run several apps concurrently and so on, prefer to veer back towards leaner and minimal ...

i like it lean and clean, i just dont even know what to put. sometimes i liek the weather but that kills resources, other than that theres not much

An alternative is to set your home page to accuweather.com and whenever you open IE, it will show the latest weather with links to radar/sat.

Lean & clean is the way to go. I use nothing on the Today screen that requires Internet updates.

Frenzy and too many apps - yeah, that sounds familiar - regular cleanups and clearouts of spurious apps are always a good thing ...

Lean.. but you can get away with having some flashy perks. I'm on a 8125 running at 200MHz so I can tell very quickly when a today plugin is causing lag. I have no problems running SBSH PocketBreeze, PocketWeather, and iLauncher. For me it is important to make my today look good, and have shortcuts to my most used apps, without compromising speed. The only today plug that does connect to the internet is PocketWeather and somehow SBSH has managed to make this happen without any hiccups even when downloading and displaying weather maps..

Glad it helped.

@jakaroe....I love sbsh software. I go back and forth using it. I can't make up my mind. One day I'm all decked out with PB, WALite, your phone skins.....the next, NOTHING.....back to the basics. I have multiple personalities with my today screen. Thanks for listening.

Very similar - 8125, and yeah you do feel the 'hit' when a plugin is a resource hog - love iLauncher ...
