It looks pretty decent especially considering that it's $130-50mir with a two year. One thing I like about it is that its much snappier than the v3. The menu system and names have changed as well and seemed to be labeled better (using more natual names and actions). Overall though, I'd still prefer the sync. |

There was also a analog digital clock on the bottom right hand side of the screen. I was under the impression this was JUIX. I guess I better stick to marketing and stay away from software issues.

This interface will be the basic one for JUIX handsets which do not have the sensory display" Is this Synergy? I don't think it is. But I am not a software engineer. Can the production model have a different UI from the one I used or described in the article? Does the V3xx production model have a different UI from the engineering model? The Maxx i have used has this same UI. Same as the V3xx we had. Pk2, Synergy, "Chameleon? just what does this phone have? I would appreciate it if someone could clear this up for me. |

I didnt care, as long as I got my $50 i could have kept the phone I got yesterday. Speakerphone is just like the V3i so far. I havent tried the voice command yet, and I dont know about the battery life yet since cingular had to exchange the one I bought yesterday with a new one to credit me $50. Bluetooth file transfer is great with my computer. Transferring a whole song takes about a minute though. I wonder if it would be faster using a Bluetooth 2.0 dongle? |

They look really similar but when you get deeper in the JUIX based phones have much better organization. |

The 3g is very fast, works well for a modem connection and taking phone calls while the internet is being used does not break or even slow the connection. This phone is great! |

I'm not so sure. It feels much cheaper tham my original and I think it is all plastic as opposed to the original all-metal V3. This thing just feels like it will crack if you drop it on a hard surface. I also noticed the battery is the BR-50 (the same 710Mah battery that is in my V3). Since 3G consumes much more battery power, I think battery life will be a real big issue? Now I know why it is only $69.99 for a 2yr. new or upgrade contract price. The Samsung SYNC feels much more solid. |

Hmm, let me think, about that one for a minute.
There is not much difference as far as features goes compared to the RAZR MAXX, the maxx has a better camera, but the body is not aluminum. I have used both these phones and the V3xx is just as nice in my opinion. I like the aluminum body and the feel of the V3xx over the MAXX. Just my opinion. But it just feels more familar to me. So if this phone does not impress you, I don't know what else on Cingulars network would right now apart from a smartphone with HSDPA. ![]() |

It could be a bug with my particular phone, or a bug in the firmware release. |

Looking back at this thread only one other person mentioned having problems with the SIM PIN enabled. Has nobody else tried this? I would not recommend trying it unless you have an unlocked phone available to disable the SIM PIN on your sim card.

On my v551 (and most other recent Moto's I'm aware of) you can assign "shortcuts" to almost any function of the phone including other menus and specific java applets by scrolling to a particular item in any of the phone's menus and holding down the "menu" button to assign a 1 or 2-digit menu shortcut code. For example, I have shortcuts assiged in this manner for: text messaging: menu-1-8 browser menu: menu-4 browser go to url: menu-4-4 call log: menu-1-5 calculator: menu-1-1 alarm clock: menu-1-2 calendar: menu-1-3 Most importantly, these shortcuts work EVERYWHERE except inside of a running java applet (which is quickly overcome by hitting "end" once to suspend the app, and the entering your desired "menu-X-Y" shortcut code.) This makes multi-tasking a truly useful activity on these phones and I'm concerned that Motorola's new UI/OS software will neglect to retain this awesome feature. Anyone care to test this out on the new motos? |
