I simply want to listen to my mp3s on my E815 with a pair of standard headphones. I bought an adapter that plugs into the 2.5 mm jack so that i can plug in a 3.5 mm set of headphones. But when i play mp3s the sound only comes out of one ear and it is very very quiet. Is there anything i can do about this. I have read quite a bit about the volume of the earpiece in regards to phone conversations being too quiet but what about using stereo headphones to play mp3s??? Is there a special kind of headphones i should be using or what? Thanks

I find headphones for mp3s to be too loud on my V360. I'm using the Motorola adapter SKN6183. How many conductors (gold rings separated by black plastic) is the 2.5mm end of your adapter? If it's 3, your adapter is not designed for your phone. If it's 4, then I don't know what the problem is.

The adapter i bought has two black plastic rings so it has three conductors i guess.. So I need to get one with three black plastic rings? I didn't think these adapters varied so much, i got mine at radioshack for like five bucks and its not gold. Also i don't know if this matters but it is the kind without any short cord, its just about 2 inches long.

The one at Radioshack is mono. Go to a Cingular store and ask for the ROKR adapter, they used to carry one but I don't know if they do anymore.

That's right, you have a 3 conductor. Doesn't matter if it's gold or other metal. It does need to be a 4 conductor, as there is a mic connector as well as the ones for the music.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. I'll see if i can get a four conductor adaptor, and hopefully it will be louder than before.

I found what looks like a good adaptor on ebay. If anyone has an opinion on this item let me know.

I am a bit confused now. I have an E815 and happened upon the Motorola Skullcandy headset. I figured it was going to have the 4 conductors but it has the 3 conductors on the 2.5mm connection. I hooked it up and to my suprise it played in both ears. I may have to try to make a sound file to test if it is stereo or not. Also this has a built in mic that does work.
Connections look like this one

Except I have backphones instead of the ear buds
