External and internal screen malfunction

My friend's cdm8900's internal ad external screens just stopped working out of nowhere yesterday. She can't do anything with her phone except answer calls and call people who's numbers she remembers. This happen to anybody else? Tried cycling power, removing battery, fully discharging and then charging battery. Is it just time for a new phone?
