Modifying bit 4 caused the matching of incoming numbers to phonebook entries to be either; more strict (b4=1), or less strict (b4=0). I proved this conclusively by adding or removing the area codes from the contact: - when strict: no area code = incoming call not matched - when not strict: no area code = incoming call matched Unfortunately, it didn't help the ringer ID problem because that relies on the claim that incoming SMS's will be always received in international format (+1xxxyyyzzzz) and so, with strict matching, will not match a phonebook entry without the "+1". That wasn't the case in my tests - at least for messages sent from a Verizon phone. Basically with strict matching and contact #'s of the form "1-xxx-yyy-zzzz", both calls and msgs were matched. Perhaps the incoming SMS number format is dependant on the originating service provider so only some contacts will be helped by this? Perhaps MY provider (T-Mobile) strips the international code if superfluous? Damn!! I've now spent 8 hours reading half a dozen forums and SEEMing and re-SEEMing this phone and ringer ID's are still worthless! Has anyone had success with a KRZR K1 - especially on an unbranded K1 like mine? |
