I don't know if all 2.5mm headphones with 3 rings on the plug will work or not for sure. There may be variation amongst them. I tried multiple adaptors so I could use my 3.5mm headphones with the 2.5mm headphone jack on the CU500, but all the initial ones I tried had only 2 rings around the plug and none of them would work right with the phone and they did the redialing of the last phone number as you mentioned in your post. If you look through the thread "LG CU500 (released)" you'll see some discussion about this topic (although that thread is pretty long now). I found a headphone adaptor at the Verizon booth in a local Circuit City that finally worked with the CU500, FYI. HTH. ![]() |

Thanks for the Circuit City tip, I called the Verizon kiosk, but they didn't have one. I am seriously running out of options here. I may return this phone. I appreciate your help though.

I've tried using a small one that was about 100kb and it didnt work either. What bit rate are yours at? |

Others have posted they're using MP3s as ringtones as well, so not sure why yours isn't working (unless you're somehow still exceeding the 600k file size). |

I was going to post and ask about the fluctuating volume during calls to see if anyone else has experienced this. I've experienced this during phone calls, not with voicemails though. I just turned of the half-rate AMR and I *think* that has helped with the situation, but I need to use the phone more and see if that's correct or just me imagining things. |

I don't like the phone ringing softer and then getting louder as time goes on with an incoming call 'cuz I often set my phone on my kitchen counter when I get home and will be elsewhere in the house. With incoming calls starting off at a softer volume level, I may not hear the phone and be able to reach it in time before voicemail kicks in. As for making your phone ring for 30 seconds, you hafta call Cingular CS and have them set that for you. There's no way to do it yourself. |

If they're gonna implement something like this then they should make it optional/configurable, so the user can choose to enable/disable it. I don't believe the majority of phone manufacturers (for U.S. models anyway) are doing this, so it seems like if fear of lawsuits were the culprit for this feature that all the others/a majority of them would be doing the same. |

Also remember the Ipod lawsuit that forced apple to change its ipod firmware to limit the db's of loudness on the ipod. I think several European countries were threating to have Ipods pulled from sale if Apple didn't place limits on the volume - and isn't LG's base in Europe ? I think this feature is overall a good one.

I would be happier if they had offered the ascending volume of ringtones as an option to enable or disable as you see fit instead of making it "mandatory". But that's just me. ![]() |

If you ask someone who has changed from a CDMA to GSM carrier, most will tell you that GSM sounds more bassy and more natural. Well, that's because most CDMA phones sold in the US are made by either LG or Samsung, which make hollow sounding earpieces, so when they switch to a GSM carrier and pick either a Nokia or Motorola phone, they immediately notice the sound quality is richer due to the better earpiece quality. |

I don't know if its strictly necessary to remove the "(", ")" and "-" characters or just to simply edit the contact and re-save it, but that fixed it for me. |

If I do return the CU500 I'll prolly get a SE W810i in it's place. I've been reading lots of good things about it and I love the SE UI. It's very nice. Plus, as you stated, there's nothing else that Cingular is actually offering at this point in time that really tempts me. ![]() |

This is an essential feature. Make it defeatable, but EVERY phone should have this. Inexplicably, my StarTAC had this but my E815 just beeps ONCE, stupidly, when the message comes in and then never again. Two days later I find out someone left me a voice mail. ASININE. Like hell am I going to be constantly running to my phone and digging into a menu to see if I got voice mail.
And this escalating-ringtone-volume thing sucks. I've edited lots of song snippets specifically to use as ringtones with a particular beginning and particular end, often to make sure they're audible from a pants pocket or jacket. Using the earpiece speaker as the ringer STINKS, but if they insist on doing it, why not have the ringer start muted ONLY IF THE PHONE'S OPEN? |

I had every intention of picking up this phone today and swapping it out with my 6682 (since its falling apart), but now I'm starting to become open minded of the V3i since that should be in before the end of the month and I won't be using the video or internet of the CU500 at all. Correct me if I'm wrong but reading this thread (and others), it seems that most of the problems are more phone general related and the only bright spot is using "Cingular Video" or the 3G for Data (Internet surfing not talking about the 3G during calls). ![]() |

Has anyone had trouble setting up groups to use different ringtones? I work for Cingular and we had a customer who would set up groups with ringtones assigned to them but the phone would always play the default ringtone. We called LG and they said it was a software issue that they werent going to do anything about? Could someone try this and let me know? Thanks. |
