V3C: Getting rid of/customizing camera shutter sound

I did a search and I don't know if anybody has run across this or not but I found out how to modify the camera shutter sound:

If you use BitPim or equivalent to navigate to /motorola/system/ you will find shutter1.wav, shutter2.wav, etc. Replace them with .wav files of your choosing. I used a 1 second silent wav file in place of shutter1.wav (shutter1.wav corresponds to "chimp" in the phone's camera shutter sound menu) and now I have no more camera sound.

For a more in-depth howto:

1. Open BitPim, navigate to /motorola/system and save shutter1.wav to your hard disk as a backup
2. Rename shutter1.wav to shutter1.bak or the like
3. Go to Start-Run, type "sndrec32" and hit OK.
4. In the Sound Recorder window that appears, push the red record button until about 1 second has been recorded. Note that sndrec32 will record whatever you are hearing through your speakers so turn off your music first.
5. Go to File - Properties. In the following dialog click Convert Now. In the next dialog under Format: pick "IMA ADPCM " and under Attributes: pick "44.100 kHz, 4 Bit, Mono". Hit OK, and OK again. Now close Sound Recorder, it will ask if you want to save the changes and pick yes. Name the file "shutter1.wav"
6. Transfer your newly created shutter1.wav to the /motorola/system folder using bitpim or equivalent.
7. Choose the Chimp sound and it will now be no sound at all.

I have confirmed this works on my SaskTel (very similar to Bell) V3C.

I've done something similar to this although didn't go through the trouble of using the dreaded sound recorder within windows. But used soundforge instead, I just edited the sound files removed the contents and overwrote the files to the phone, I did this assuming that I would have problems with my phone if it wouldn't be able to locate a file, I've also done this with the wallpapers I disliked, Pretty much the bottom line is instead of hitting delete just overwrite the sounds or images.
