HPM-70 Earpiece mod

I figured this little mod for the HPM-70 headset may be useful to some of you, maybe old news for others.
If you, like myself, are not to crazy about the little ear insert pieces that are provided with the HPM-70 (due to poor sealing in the ear, loss of bass / low frequency response), here is a alternative solution for folks like us. (and its cheap too!)
All you need is a new set of regular old ear plugs:

A pencil type soldering iron (I use a 25 watt):

And a small hot glue gun (I use a 10 watt hobby/craft type):

Use the tip of the soldering iron to make a hole through the center of the earplug, then use the glue gun and run a small bead of glue around the circumference of the extension of the earpiece, in the recess where the provided ear cup would go. Then QUICKLY (before the glue cools down), press the earplug over the extension of the earpiece (until it seats against the body of the earpiece, dont force it), and let sit for a few moments until the glue is cooled down. Repeat the same process for the other earpiece.
Bam! You will now have a pad for the earpiece that will fit nice and snug (and quite air tight) right in the ear canal.
Just squeeze the earplug a little, and after you insert it into your ear it will expand a little, making for a comfortable fit, which will really bring out the low end frequency capabilities of these earphones.
Here is a pic of the finished product:

And when the earplugs you have now fitted on to your HPM-70 gets old, dirty, wont expand anymore, or for whatever reason, you can slowly peel them off the earpieces, and any remaining glue may be removed with a small utility knife. But since were using the type of glue gun, that dosen't heat up the glue very hot (just enough to melt the glue), it sticks nicely to the earpiece, but it dosen't harm the plastic, and will pull back off with relative ease.

Disclaimer: Now of course, if you do try this, and you mess something up, it's not my fault but if you feel comfortable doing this, you might be impressed with the results. Just DON'T use a soldering iron over 25 watts, and a glue gun over 10 watts.

Have fun modding!
