Lack of new phones for Cingular

Well ATT customer about to change over to the Orange side. I am looking at the available phones and wow they all suck. I mean T-Mobile has nicer looking phones. Does anyone know something I don't when it comes to the phones they are offering this month? It looks like in the last day they raised prices and took away rebates. Plus no phones have EDGE. I am going to be stuck with a 2 year contract on a out of date phone. Come on Cingular.

(It would have been nice if someone told me why my front page post was closed. Why would A customer switch to a 2 year new contract and be stuck with an old phone)

Your thread was closed because it's dealing with phones. There's a phones subforum on the top of the front page, as well as a rotating visual reminder as to where you're supposed to be posting threads like this.

On to the point - It's simple, don't get your phone from Cingular. Done and done. First off, several of Cingular's phones have EDGE. Just none of the Motorolas. The Nokia 6682, 9300, Cingular 8125, 2125, etc. all have EDGE. You can also buy online, unlocked and unbranded (which is the smarter way to go, anyways.) Get a freebie from Cingular for your contract to keep as a backup.

Also check smaller agent stores in your area. Most will sell unlocked/unbranded phons and still give you the contract discount. Especially since you're in NYC. Ask around here on the forums, or check out Chinatown. There's plenty of places in NYC that'll sell you an unlocked/unbranded imported phone that'll work great on Cingular.
