Need new Phone/Handheld

Hi,
I've been with tmobile for bout 3 yrs now using a samsung e701 phone I think, a fliphone.
I want to get a Handheld and my friend over with cingular has a handheld that also allows him to connect to internet with his laptop etc..

Im willing to switch provider if the a phone is much better etc...
Im only looking at handheld thats portable, no sidekick stuff please :\

wait... you didnt describe what you want to do with it... and do you want to use the internet with your laptop? or have a phone that is like a pocket pc? what do you wanna do with it??

Hi,
Use it as a PHONE but also to connect to internet if needed and also allow my laptop to connec to the phone for internet like my friend was able to do.
Basically something portable with a keypad abcdefg etc.. for viewing web + phone + internet for laptop if needed. Something small preferably.

I suggest staying with T-mobile because they have the cheapest plan for unlimited Internet access. Here's two phones I thought of on top of my head. It also have Edge so you have faster Internet connection. The Blackberry is not known to be used as a modem for the laptop but there are tricks to use it as a modem. But so far there's no tricks in getting this 8700 phone to work as a modem on T-mobile but there are a few who were successful in doing it though.

When it is close, it's compact and you won't see the keyboard. This use Window Mobile.

Looks good but is it portable? Also it connects as modem fine?
Any more compact ones available for tmobile? Or anyones that can be unlocked for tmobile that I can purchase?
Also kinda dont want to get that cause it looks like a sidekick ripoffl ol
