Treo won't sync w/ Outlook

I'm trying to get my email (with Versamail) on the Treo to sync over cable to Outlook. For some reason, it will only do a POP sync when I hotsync instead of syncing directly with Outlook. What am I missing?

Bump - a little help please? 126 views and no replies? After doing some more searching, I'm getting conflicting info. Some are saying the Treo can't sync email with Outlook - is this true? I was almost positive I was able to sync it before.

Just an additional note: If I right-click the Hotsync icon on the PC (on the taskbar)>click custom>highlight Versamail & click change>click Add Account, a window pops up that says "Set Up Email Account". In that window under "An email account detected on this PC" there's nothing, although I have Outlook installed. Anybody have a solution to getting this working? This Treo is about to go up on ebay soon if I can't get this fixed. TIA.

you have to manually go into the palm program on the computer and setup the account, then when you hotsync it will add it to your phone. you might want to make sure that your outlook also leaves a copy of the email on the server.

Thanks for the reply Tekmode. Unfortunately, I've done this. I can sync over a POP connection when connected to the PC. What I'm looking to do is sync with Outlook. In other words, get some mail on the PC, then later download some email to the Treo wirelessly and when I get home at the end of the day connect the Treo to the PC and have them both update each other. I never had a problem doing this with my Tungsten T3, but maybe the Treo is a different animal with it having the wireless connection.

Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. Here's a fix from somebody over at Treocentral. Follow the directions in the attached file and it allows you to sync both with Outlook (Palm to PC) as well as wirelessly from the Treo. The only emails I haven't been able to sync yet are the Sent emails from Treo, however emails Sent on PC will sync. Here's a link to the file:
