HOW to get info/pics off phone without sync!?!?!

hello all
newbie i what i am.
i have a xv-6700 and i'd like to know how to get the pictures i take off the phone and onto the mini SD card with out the active sync. also maybe contacts etc....

can you not go into your camera settings and say save pics on the storage card?
That way u just take pics and then later take out your card and put it into a PC card reader and copy it off?
