So far I like the phone but the volumes on the earpiece, speaker, and headset are way too quite.

I have read some people say you need some sort of program called p2k, but which one?

Lso the usb cable that comes with the phone, is it the correct cable to be used with these updaters or do I have to buy a different one.

So far i like it, steps ahead of what Sprint had to offer me, I guess time will tell from now on though.

u need p2ktools, and u need to edit the gain table or hexing

umm..or u can use the "phone tools" in the drop down menu in p2ktools and just ajust the vol earpiece and/or the vol on the speaker. no need for hexin or WETF

Which version of p2ktools and does the usb cable that came with the phone work with these programs or is there a specific on that has to be bought?

Actually, I would recommend MotoKit V1.06. It lets you change the volume scheme of the phone and you don't have to seem edit at all. For a beginner I think this is the easiest way to do it.
