Hey All!
I am trying to set-up my 6700 as a modem, and here is what I ahve done so far:
1. Hard reset with removal of all the Verizon branding stuff. (Worked great)
2. Followed the instructions for installing the files from the startup CD, and installed the files exactly as told. Here is where I am having the problems:
I get 9/10's the way through the process, and then windows tells me it can't install the modem. I get through the install process, tell the PC to look in the specified folder, then it says Windows was unable to install the modem. When I go to the Modem dialer, I get a "Remote Access error 797"
Now, I have a Toshiba Laptop that previously (As I was trying to install the modem) had it's own internal modem set to Com 3. I disabled it, and tried again to no avail. Now, I completely removed the toshiba modem, and still it won't install it correctly. (Not physically removed)
I am at a loss here, and don't know how to proceed.
Can someone help me?

Nobody?
Could this be because the drivers don't work with an "unbranded" phone?
Should I pursue new drivers via the net?

You should have an application on the 6700 called "Wireless Modem" you should turn that program on before connecting it to the PC. This program will make the 6700 act like a modem instead of trying to connect to activesync on the PC.
