I have just upgraded phones so now both by husband and I have the Sony Ericsson Z525a. I have tried to attach a picture to a contact so that it will show up on the external screen when that person calls. Well, the picture "attaches" (I have successfully added to the contact and it shows up on the internal screen) but it doesn't show on the external screen. I have tried several different ways to attach it and then went through all those ways again with SE customer service (including reducing the size of the picture to Small (160x120.))

I have not been successful on either of the two phones that I have. SE Customer Service says that they have not had any calls on this issue; Cingular Service Chat also doesn't know about it. But I am doubtful that I happened to get two phones with the same glitch.

Has anyone successfully added a picture to a contact and have it appear on their external screen?

To answer your question -- No. I have added a picture to a contact, but it doesn't show up on the external screen, only the internal screen.

I have the same phone and all my photo contacts show up on the outside screen when they call.

If i have the flip opened they show up on the internal screen.

My contacts pictures are stored in My Media on the phone.

just a thought, does it matter in the contacts are stored on the sim card or in the phones memory?

I'm using the phones memory for storing my contacts, nothing is stored on the sim card.

I have everything on the phone as well; I have items on the SIM card, but I'm pretty sure it's pulling the info out of the phone memory.

I've tried it using a picture shot with the camera on the phone and a jpeg that I placed on the phone myself (dimensions 140x146; size about 10 kb). Maybe the pic is too big?

Tom -

On your header your phone is listed as the z520a. Have you actually changed to the z525a? I don't think the 520's had this problem, but apparently the 525's do.

I'm using the z520a.
My friend at works has the new z525a, when I see him tomorrow I'll ask him if he uses pictures in his contacts and see if he has any problems.
