great question, i came to ask d same one.

my experience: i've been attempting to upgrade via bargining so each time i call i get a different offer. the first individual i spoke with could get me the cu500 for $100, no mention of rebate but it was before i saw one was available online. the 2nd cs rep offered a free month and other goodies, but could not order the phone b/c it wasn't on his system. indianapolis is not yet a 3g market so i expected some hassle and had him put notes in my account.

finally the 3rd rep. nothing but headache. told me the phone is $150 through premiere, no rebate available, and that the $79 online price for this phone is for new customers only. apparently i could get the phone for $100 b/c they planned on crediting my account for a free month, $50. b4 i even asked. 3 reps, nothing but hold n headache.

hopefully someone can come up with a more straightforward reply

I think I will send it in, what they gonna do, not pay like most other rebates. LOL

Also, every premier price is not the same. Depends on who the sponsor is. Army price was $129, no rebates advertised, but the rebat form doesnt say premier sales didnt count, so I guess Ill wait and see.

I ordered a CU500 yesterday, and I was miffed to discover that I needed to have MEdiaNet Maxx in order to get the $50 rebate. I didn't discover this fact until after I had submitted my order, which to me constitutes fraud.

PS: I already have MEdiaNet Unlimited.

You should be able to get it with MEdiaNet Unlimited, or just change to Media Max 200 with unlimited Media Net and 200 txt for the same price. If you read the last month rebate form and the new one, they have switched the terminology for Media Net, but it was a requirement all along for this phone.

FYI I just placed an order for the CU500 via the Premier site, all along thinking I was paying $129.99, but to my pleasant surprise, after checkout, my final price ended up being $79.99. I am not sure if subscribing to MediaNet Max 200 had anything to do with the further discount. No rebate involved.

Also, calling into a Cingular rep, the best he could do was $149.99, and he said the reason it was cheaper online (at the listed price of $129.99) was because they want people to use their online facilities to place orders. I don't know how I ended up getting it down to $79.99 after checkout, but I ain't complaining.
